Job DescriptionReporting to the Partnership level Head of Strategy & Architecture and working in close partnership with the rest of the Solutions and Digital leadership team.

The role has the successful candidate leading KPMG’s UK new technology architecture organisation, being the authority on strategy, product selection, design, implementation and standards for the overall Enterprise and KPMG’s clients. You will be responsible for innovating, incubating and educating the firm and our Clients on new technology initiatives.

KPMG UK are embarking on a Digital strategy focussed on a major transformation of the firm’s IT landscape, to revolutionise how KPMG deliver technology services to its Clients and end-users. As the Lead Enterprise Architect you will be expected to champion and deliver large elements of this future-looking strategy whilst also ensuring the current in-flight services are not neglected; you will need to be supportive, focussing & mentoring those around you through a period of large-scale disruption.

The Role:

- Responsible for the implementation of the Digital Transformation Enterprise Architecture strategy across the UK.
- You will host and partake in various governance groups and committees. The Technology Steering Group is comprised of Senior Partners and Stakeholders, within this body you will be the technical SME and be requesting authority and investment decisions from these senior individuals. Conversely, you will chair the Architecture Assurance Group and be the overall authority on future roadmaps, tooling, downstream implementations, ideas, investments, reference standards and so on.
- KPMG needs a consistent set of technology standards aligned to business processes. These will need to be established, circulated, educated and embedded. Setting the clear and consistent standards firm-wide will be measured by cost reduction, improvement in quality and consistency of solutions, and the speed-to-market.
- You will work with Colleagues in our member firms and Global IT to drive the UK’s digital agenda, learning from their experiences and championing the direction the UK has chosen to take. You will have to build many relationship and negotiate support for the UK transformation and work to shape the UK’s needs being met by our Global colleagues.
- You must be innovative in how you deliver Enterprise Architecture and how you manage your function. You will need to be a digital disruptor, applying as well as refining your knowledge in such areas as automation and predicative analytics; always challenging the status quo, bringing new ideas and paradigms to KPMG, socialising your thinking and leading those around you to also ‘think outside of the box’.
- Culture is a large part of the Digital Transformation programme and the need for KPMG to move to a forward-thinking, performance oriented, innovative technology mind-set. You will need to work across the business, educating senior members, partaking in steering committees, empowering the technology organisation and helping steer the company towards a positive outlook with motivated and empowered technology staff.
- You will develop deep relationships with suppliers and our Alliance partners, challenging them to bring market-leading innovations to KPMG.
- You will own the budget for your function and manage it accordingly; you will place emphasis on growing the value from your investments. You will want to deliver more for less and have a keen eye on spend-detail. Not being afraid to fail-fast and making sure every pound is only spent once. There will be more attention paid to IT spend than ever before and you should be able to challenge your colleagues plans, whilst ensuring this not at the expense of innovation.
- You will act as the ultimate escalation point for all Enterprise Architecture elements and in turn be responsible for compliance to standards. You will be the function’s primary interface for senior Stakeholders and the Executives.

The Person: You will be able to demonstrate the following skill sets and expertise:

- Proven track record and experience of leading Enterprise Architecture organisations.
- Have an outstanding reputation within the Technology Industry – you must be known as a visionary leader with a proven track record of delivering functional innovation, with real savings and improvements.
- Experience of operating in an equally sized enterprise is highly desirable
- An Expert-level technical knowledge with a Digital Disruption mind-set. Deep understanding of the current, upcoming and future technology market trends and their impact on Business and inside the workplace.
- Must be a leader, a confident individual, self-assured and who is able to convey ideas and can guide, mentor and develop those around you. The ability to build and coach teams to confidently meet new challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and able to explain technology to a non-technical audience. You will need confidence to convince individuals to follow your plans and resolve conflicts. You will interface with people at all levels from Board members to graduates and be able to tailor your styles accordingly.
- An understanding of the organisational hierarchy, regulations and systems used by financial institutions
- ITIL, TOGAF and Agile qualified.
- A practical understanding of GDPR, ISO27001 and financial regulations.
