Data Engineer

The Team
The Data Engineer will work within Data Architecture + Engineering, one of the teams under Digital Lighthouse. The role of the team is to deliver data-centric solutions using a consistent, accelerated, efficient methodology blended across the UK and India (KGS). Our work involves the transformation of an organisation’s data management as well as embedding analytics to support their digital transformation and strategy. Our customers benefit from increased automation, efficiency and quality, saving them time and cost and unlocking latent value from their data.

• Data Management and Security
• Data Modelling
• Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
• Data Integration
• Data Platforms
• Data Quality and Integrity
• Reporting and Analytics
• Data Visualisation and Storytelling.
We base our solutions around the Microsoft Azure stack, augmented with additional vendor products as and when required. The Role
We established our team two years ago. Due to our continued success, we have a healthy, increasing demand pipeline meaning we need to grow the team further.
The Data Engineer will work closely with Senior Data Engineers, Data Architects and Project Managers as part of project teams to deliver and run technology solutions for our customers. They will work closely with customers to define and agree requirements. They will build, integrate and test technology components as solutions are implemented into live service, as well as contribute to designs.
They will report into and support the Senior Data Engineers and Data Architects as the Data Architecture + Engineering team is managed on a day to day basis and strategic outcomes are delivered. They will build strong networks in KPMG UK and India (KGS).

The Person
• Experience in 1 or more of the areas described above
• A curiosity and passion for data and analytics
• Experience in implementing and helping design solutions in the Microsoft Azure stack using technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services and Power BI; hands-on experience in 1 or more of those technologies is required
• An understanding of data modelling across both operational (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) use cases
• Experience of Alteryx, Qlik, Tableau and the AWS and GCP platform stacks is an advantage
• Experience of working within areas of software development, technology or consulting projects (strategy, discovery, design, development and deployment)
• Experience explaining complex processes and circumstances in technical and non-technical terms to ensure all understand
• A talent for clear, concise communication and getting your point across, both verbal and in written format
• An understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and familiarity with the benefits and risks of each
• The ability to work in a fast-paced, albeit supervised environment, handle quickly changing priorities, and be capable of managing yourself to achieve maximum results
• The ability to regularly feed progress and communicate to line managers
• The ability to build solid relationships with team members
• Strong people skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to support a working culture characterised by collaboration, continuous improvement and commitment to high performance
• Organised and meticulous, tenacious and consistent
