Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities




A Data Architect and Analytics Manager within the team would typically be responsible for:

- Identifying requirements, develop data models, perform data analysis, write SQL queries, design and code complex stored procedures, and performance tune database processes.

- Assisting with troubleshooting transaction logs, viewing execution plans, tuning queries, and indexing strategies

- Designing and implementing an end to end analytics solution on both on premise and cloud with thorough experience of incorporating business processes and user requirements into dashboards with a consistent workflow and/or actionable insight

- Leading technical discussions and engagements with clients and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft BI technology stack, including SQL Server, SQL SSIS, MS Power Query, MS Power Pivot, MS Power BI

- Thorough understanding of best-practice approaches to the development of data models in Excel and SQL (“our modelling tools”)

- Building excellent client relationships across a range of clients
- Managing a team to deliver specific engagements
- Providing management and quality assurance over work done by our graduate trainees, analysts and assistant managers
- Producing final reports and work papers for client engagements
- Actively identifying and progressing business development opportunities
- Developing internal networks and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues across KPMG, but in particular in the wider Technology area and with audit colleagues
- Coaching and developing team members, both while on engagements and as part of a continuing performance manager role

- Contributing to the development of the overall infrastructure, government and health analytics practice, for example through delivering training on new or developing propositions relating to your work; providing assurance and formal or informal expertise to other projects; and identifying and pursuing opportunities to improve the services provided by the practice.

Experience & Background





-

Over 5 years of professional analytics work experience in architecture design and development of data analytics solutions.

-

Proficient in designing/ implementing/ administering database environments e.g. SQL Server, Oracle

-

Strong Data Modelling experience having used a variety of frameworks and concepts

-

Advanced SQL, T-SQL, PL-SQL skills

-

Hands-on technical capability: willingness and ability to “roll sleeves up” when required on projects. Understanding a variety of technologies and techniques so that the optimal solution can be determined for each project / task; including:

-

Data analysis, manipulation, querying and profiling;

-

Experience of leading and delivering analytical projects for internal or external clients, including the experience of leading and managing teams;

Reporting using data visualisation tools (e.g. Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, Qlikview, Power BI etc);

Knowledge of ELT and ETL tools (e.g. Alteryx, SQL Server Integration Services, Data Factory)

Knowledge of database and cloud computing technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Azure, Amazon Web Services, SQL Server Analytics Services)



Qualifications and Skills




- Ideally, a numerate (computer science or maths-based) degree

- A professional qualification (e.g. Microsoft SQL Certified Professional)

- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills

- Positive approach towards problem solving under pressure, including the ability to think through a problem and apply a logical, analytical approach to develop a solution

- The ability to manage time and work independently with multiple stakeholders

- Ability to quickly assimilate information and propose workable solutions

- Ability to describe complex technical issues in a clear non-technical way

- Strong enthusiasm for solving complex problems with our modelling tools with a demonstrable ability to efficiently build solutions that adhere to best practice

- Strong analytical and interpretative skills Sustained attention to detail
