Data Architect (6 - 12 months FTC)

A team comprising 5 team members, including the Deals CTO. This team manages a series of technology projects to be delivered to the Deal Advisory service line.
Will work alongside the technology team who work with our internal clients to review their current business processes and identify opportunities to optimise. We re-design the processes and implement technology solutions to run them in a more efficient, digital way. This saves our clients time and money, improves quality and scalability, and allows value to be unlocked from data.


We require a Senior Data architect, to join the Data capability. The person will support the Capability managers and architects to deliver end-to-end solutions and products to customers, both internal KPMG business functions as well as external clients.
You’ll need to be a strong team player, collaborative, supportive and friendly. You’ll want to work in a multi-disciplinary team in a vibrant, fast-moving environment, using a wide set of cutting-edge technologies.


Work on a portfolio of technology change projects for the DealTech team working alongside a number of other architects and developers. Mainly focussed on the delivery of one platform for the Deal Advisory business – set to become the primary strategic platform for deals.

Key tasks include:
- Identify strategic data requirements
- Determine how data will be stored and utilised
- Assess the KPMG’s internal and external data and design blueprint to manage the available data
- Create inventory of data and store data in easily accessible format
- Design and develop complex database management systems and separate public data from private ones.
- Collaborate with enterprise’s management needs to create data models in line with the KPMG need
- Research to collate new data and update the company’s database from time to time.

The Person
• Experience in several or all of the areas described above
• Experience in architecting, designing and implementing solutions in the Microsoft Azure stack using technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services and Power BI
• Skilled in data modelling across both operational (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) use cases
• Experience of Alteryx, Qlik, Tableau, and the AWS and GCP platform stacks is an advantage
• Experience of working across end-to-end software development, technology or consulting projects (strategy, discovery, design, development and deployment)
• Experience explaining complex processes and circumstances in technical and non-technical terms to ensure all understand
• A talent for clear, concise communication and getting your point across, both verbal and in written format
• Experience in working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and familiarity with the benefits and risks of each
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, handle quickly changing priorities, and be capable of managing yourself to achieve maximum results
• Strong stakeholder management with a history of building solid relationships with customers and team members
• Strong people skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to support a working culture characterised by collaboration, continuous improvement and commitment to high performance
• Organised and meticulous, tenacious and consistent.
