The Team

Advanced Analytics is a fast growing business in KPMG, where we are developing a significant capability in the insurance industry. The team is looking to continue its growth through the recruitment of a Senior Manager to support the setup and running of large and complex data driven engagements and develop additional opportunities in the market through business development. Our practitioners work on challenging projects with leading FTSE 100 clients.

Focus will be on the development of client’s strategic analytics capabilities, both cloud based and on premise. Experience in both the legacy and new cloud based technologies, as we as building and managing teams who can deliver in this space, is critical.

The Role

- The role will be to oversee and lead the delivery of large advisory insurance data engagements which can then be grown out through value add additional analytics services and building a network within the client to utilise the newly built assets.

- The role holder will also need to help generate new work for the team through actively leading/supporting sales and proposal activity within the leadership team and insurance markets group.

- Demonstrate the ability to articulate the technology impact of regulatory or business change to clients (examples include GDPR, Solvency II and Internal Model Validation).

- Develop and communicate (internally and externally) data propositions which will help our clients in tackling business issues across the insurance sector.

The Person

- Proven experience required of successfully leading and managing data work to Financial Services clients.

- Big 4 professional services or equivalent experience.

- Strong leadership skills.

- Experience in business and data analysis and understanding of core business and financial processes within FS.

- Experience of independently generating data work within the insurance sector and ability to play an active role in the business development process.

- Ability to spot opportunities to add value to clients and collaborate with colleagues in other lines of business to help clients find solutions to the challenges they face.

- Appreciation of growth areas across insurance and how analytics can be leveraged to create value for our clients.

- Client relationship management skills.

- Experience of managing large teams with different skillsets.

- Ability to communicate technical information in non-technical language.

- Ability to supervise, mentor and develop others.

- Analytically minded and have the ability to assimilate and apply new techniques and knowledge quickly to deliver insights and solve problems.

- A proven ability to lead complex engagements, manage and monitor budgets and financial performance.

- Experience analysing customer data and insurance data in both retail and commercial settings.

- Remediation programme knowledge including financial crime, mis-selling and data quality.

- Experience in some of the following or similar technology areas:

o Data Repositories: e.g. Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Netezza, and DB2

o Data Quality and Cleansing: e.g. Trillium, SAS, IBM and Informatica

o Data Integration and Federation: e.g. SAP, IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Informatica and Ab Initio

o Master Data Management: e.g. Oracle, Informatica MDM, and IBM

- Education to degree level or equivalent experience, ideally in an engineering, operational research or mathematical subject.

- Strong Microsoft skills (Excel, Access, Word, Power Point).
