Job Description
Over the last decade KPMG has established itself as a clear leader in Corporate Responsibility. Social mobility is at the core of our Corporate Responsibility agenda, and in 2018 we were delighted to be named the number one employer in the Social Mobility Employer Index. We use our resources and skills to make a real difference on the issues that matter to society and the economy; last year our social mobility programmes mobilised over 3000 employees supporting over 20,000 community beneficiaries.

We pride ourselves on taking a pioneering approach to Corporate Responsibility, and here – as in all other aspects of our work – our main asset is our people and the skills they can bring to the issues we want to address. We have developed an ambitious strategic programme focused on numeracy, literacy and lifelong learning.

The role

Reporting to the senior lead for education, this education specialist role will manage relationships with strategic charity partners offering a great opportunity to deliver high profile, flagship projects for the firm.

As well as leading our work with strategic charity partners National Numeracy and the National Literacy Trust, the Education Manager will also manage the relationship with The City Academy Hackney, the school founded by KPMG and the City of London Corporation in 2008.

The Education Manager will line manage the CR Coordinator and have overarching responsibility for driving up education volunteering rates across our London portfolio of education programmes, including partnerships with the Access Project, 15 Billion EBP and Tower Hamlets EBP.

Responsibilities

Education flagships

Manage relationships with national education charity partners, developing and delivering an ambitious programme of work in line with our commitments to be a social mobility leader. Key relationships include:

- National Numeracy, with a focus on delivering National Numeracy Day (May 2019.) The package of work includes: PR / media / internal engagement and communications as well as volunteering.
- National Literacy Trust, with a focus on the Vision for Literacy Business Pledge and client and governmental engagement.
- Business in the Community – support KPMG’s membership of BITC’s Education Leadership Team by preparing briefings and providing support for senior leadership.
- City Academy, Hackney – leading the 10 year anniversary working group; managing relationships with the co-sponsors, the City of London, as well as KPMG governors; overarching responsibility for the package of support provided to the school, including work-related learning.

Education volunteering

- Reinvigorate the education champion network, focusing on CPD; profile-raising; internal and external communications; and recognition and reward.
- Manage the relationship with the education partners responsible for school governorship; recruitment of new governors; governor CPD.
- Oversight of all London education volunteering with a view to raising participation rates.
- Line management of CR Coordinator.

Other


- Manage requests from clients on KPMG’s performance and activity on education.
- Review internal and external requests for support in line with focus areas.
- Support on ad hoc projects.

The Individual

- Degree qualified in relevant discipline.
- Experience of the education sector – in the private, public or third sector
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to cope with multiple demands, changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrable ability to communicate persuasively in writing and in person
- Good business acumen and sound professional judgement.
- Able to effectively support junior team members in their development.
- Experience of CR issues, good understanding of corporate responsibility thought leadership and the changing CR trends and policies that will affect KPMG including wider business and societal issues.
- Demonstrates an enthusiastic manner in dealing with a cross section of people.
- Adheres to the firm’s values and brand attributes and lives these to the full.
- Willingness to travel in the UK.
- Willingness to be flexible in ad hoc requests and projects.
