Job Description
The Contentious Insolvency and Restructuring team in London are looking for an experienced Manager to join their team. The team is responsible for delivering a number of personal and corporate formal insolvency engagements together with a number of court appointed receiverships. These matters are often litigious, complex and multi-jurisdictional and the engagements are typically delivered whilst working closely with legal teams.

The role will be based predominantly in our Canary Wharf office but the nature and unpredictability of the work will mean that some travel (and possible international working) will be required. Applicants should be ready to work in dynamic, flexible and fast moving environments.

The team is not aligned to specific sectors and specialisms, however there are individuals with significant experience in certain areas and situations and we would welcome this in any applicants. Applicants however should expect to work across all sectors as situations and client demand.

Roles and Responsibilities

To be an effective Manager within the Contentious Insolvency and Restructuring team you will be responsible for the following:

- Assisting the office-holders and senior project management teams in delivering cases which can be large, high-profile and complex;
- Working in engagement teams of varying sizes building strong, trusted relationships with senior management and mid-level executives and other key stakeholders in engagements;
- Liaising with top-tier lawyers and other KPMG teams (including Forensic) in the UK and overseas to delivery various aspects of the role;
- Engaging in / contributing to team discussions to help shape the strategy on these matters and also to learn and develop your own experience;
- Managing engagements and projects to scope, time, quality and budget complying with KPMG engagement management practices;
- On certain relevant assignments, overseeing work as the main point of contact with the client, reporting back to engagement leaders and other senior staff;
- Undertaking of detailed analysis to present robust advice to client teams;
- Appraise challenging & fast developing situations and look to develop innovative solutions and assess options for businesses and their stakeholders, which in certain instances may involve consideration of formal insolvency processes;
- Development of junior staff on assignments;
- Participating in marketing events and developing internal and external contacts.

Qualifications and Skills

- You should be JIEB qualified; as well as having formal insolvency experience and a desire to develop existing skills / skillsets;
- You will have good people and communication skills, able to confidently and articulately deal with all parties at all levels in what can sometimes be difficult situations;
- You will be conscientious and are able to produce high quality, detailed and accurate work both of your own volition and by any teams you are responsible for;
- You will be willing to travel and work from a client site as required from time to time;
- You will have drive and enthusiasm and a willingness to learn quickly and operate as part of a team;
- You will have an interest in commercial and financial matters, be able to demonstrate strong commercial and business acumen and practical common sense;
- You will have good time management and organisational skills together with the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure that deadlines are met;
- You will have the ability to work innovatively and ‘self start’ as well start and delegate to teams of colleagues;
- You will have the ability to communicate well across a range of operational and financial staff at all levels. This is also often in challenging circumstances given the financial positions of the organisations we typically work with;
- You will be a positive influence on the team and will be capable of achievements beyond the realms of project work.

Experience and Background

- You will have experience of managing an insolvency caseload as well as a team of people; with an ability to demonstrate results in terms of case progression including asset realisation and dealing with creditor and other stakeholder interests;
- You will be able to demonstrable experience in managing your own workstreams (and those of your team) within the insolvency space;
