Content Manager

Date: Oct 29, 2020

Location: London, United Kingdom

Company: KPMG UK

Job Description:

As part of the wider Corporate Affairs function, the Internal Communications team plays a vital role in building confidence, pride and trust in the leadership and strategy of KPMG UK as we support the UK in a connected world.

Over the past year, we have modified our operating model to achieve the above, transforming business partnering with the remit to support areas of our firm with transparent, consistent messages to help our colleagues and our firm to succeed.

Now it’s time for the next phase of our approach – building a team with one remit only: putting the spotlight solely on our people to tell their stories and in turn, the story of our firm.

Our people are incredible, and we have more than 16,000 of them, each with interesting backgrounds, stories and expertise - all playing their part in running and growing KPMG UK.

This is where you come in as our Content Manager. As part of the Content and Channels team you will support our internal communications strategy by leading our editorial approach for internal news and feature channels and developing best-in-class content - told through and by our people.

Your job is to find and tell these stories using your journalistic talents and creativity.

How will you do this? However you want. You might come across a single sentence in a Yammer post or a comment on our intranet that sparks an idea. Or you might want to focus our award-winning quarterly digital magazine on a single topic that unites our firm. The content is yours to shape how you see fit.

Key to this will be getting out and about (virtually to begin with!) to build a strong rapport with our colleagues and deliver great stories at a high editorial standard.

To succeed in this role you will:

- Have a keen eye for a story and know the best way to tell it
- Be an outstanding writer and communications aficionado with extensive editorial experience
- Have an understanding of internal digital channels and tools; ideally SharePoint, Teams, Yammer or Poppulo
- Be able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively
- Be passionate about great journalism and content creation for diverse audiences
- Be curious about our industry, clients and people so you can deliver stories and in-depth opinion pieces alongside a regular drum beat of topical news provided by our Business Partners
- Understand the importance of feedback and data to bring insight to our content proposition
- Know how to get the best from others; if you haven’t managed others already, you should have a desire to do so
We’re after someone who is:

- A capable individual with a high level of emotional intelligence, able to balance the needs of long-term strategic work with fast-moving tactical work
- Comfortable running multiple projects at once
- Highly organised, ensuring that our channels deliver a regular flow and mix of high-quality content.
- A good, intuitive coach, able to adapt their technique and use objective feedback to enable others to stretch and develop.
- A consummate relationship-builder, creating useful networks across the business.
This role will report to the Head of Content and Channels.

Essential skills for the role

The Content Manager will:

- Be the guardian of editorial standards and editorial compliance
- Have experience of using a variety of forms of media for storytelling (like videos or podcasts)
- Have an eye for technical detail
- Feel confident in dealing with senior stakeholders
- Communicate issues clearly with internal audiences
- Understand analytics and measurement

The interview will be a combination of competency-based questions and a short written test.
