Job Description
We are currently looking for qualified Accountants at Assistant Manager level to join our thriving Public Sector Audit and Assurance department. Based in our head office in London, you will be part of a collaborate team in a fast paced and challenging environment working with a diverse client base.

You will work across both internal and external audit, picking up a portfolio of clients and working within a cross functional office, alongside our Advisory and Tax functions as part of our Public Sector practice. There are opportunities to become involved in work outside of traditional audit, both in terms of business development to help grow our business, as well as more widely within KPMG, for example through joint projects with our Advisory, Tax and Corporates teams.

As an Assistant Manager within Public Sector you will be involved in all aspects of delivering audit engagements from planning through to completion. Your role will include executive level client interaction across multiple clients, giving superb opportunities for personal and professional growth within a Big 4 environment.

What we’re looking for:

-Well-developed leadership and supervisory skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally at different seniority level
-Strong project management techniques including decision-making ability, analytical skills, time management, prioritisation, organisation and evaluative skills
-Self driven and resilient and able to thrive in a pressured environment
-Experience of auditing public sector organisations. We will also consider candidates with an interest in moving into the public sector with knowledge of developments within this sector
-The ambition to undertake new challenges and step up into supervisory roles, taking leadership where necessary

Responsibilities of the role:


-Leading a field work team including supervising and coaching more junior members of staff
-Delivering audits from planning to completion including statutory reporting
-Communicating with key internal and external stakeholders including attending meetings with senior stakeholders
-Preparing draft client deliverables
-Keeping up to date with KPMG's product and service offerings, helping to identify business development opportunities for the segment
-Acting as an ambassador of KPMG

Qualifications and experience required:

-Professionally qualified with a recognised accountancy body, ACA, CA, CPA or equivalent, individuals on track to be exam and time qualified this year will also be considered
-Significant external audit experience including practical experience ideally in a Big 4 or mid-tier accountancy firm
-Exposure to the public sector is preferred however not essential
-Sound working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
-IT literacy with sound knowledge and experience of Excel/Word
