The Team

KPMG UK’s Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) is a team of roughly 200 professionals and is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading independent financial and commercial advisers in the infrastructure sector. IAG has locations in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester and is organised on a national basis.

IAG provides in-depth advice on the strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure in the UK and internationally. This ranges from providing strategic thinking and advice to companies and investors to enable private capital to fund infrastructure, to working with the public sector to develop the business cases to enable projects to happen, and advising through negotiations that bring the public and private sectors together. We also work closely with other functions within KPMG to share our sector expertise to help colleagues advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, valuations, tax, accounting, and due diligence issues.

Power & Utilities is a key business area for IAG, and within that team we are looking for a high quality candidate to support growth in this areas particularly in the advent of Net Zero and Renewables.

The Role
The Associate Director provides senior leadership to the team, working closely with the Directors and Partners to lead our client engagements and lead business development activity.

The role will include:

• Building enduring client relationships and becoming the go to person for our clients
• Developing sector specific market intelligence and taking ownership of a particular area
• Leading business development, utilising networks and building out networks
• Proactive mapping to identify targets, new opportunities and engaging with the market
• Day to day leadership of client engagements providing robust financial and commercial insight • Producing, reviewing and overseeing development high quality documentation and presentations
• Overseeing the development of financial models providing review, guidance and advice
• Providing training, guidance and leadership to the junior team members
• Ensuring engagement administration, compliance and risk management procedures are adhered to
• Performance management, coaching and mentoring of junior team members
• Any other duties commensurate with the senior nature of the role.

The Person

• Assured and experienced in a client and market facing role;
• Significant experience and network coverage of clients within energy infrastructure either as an advisor, bidder, investor or public procurer;
• Demonstrable credentials of working with and advising both public and private sector clients on energy infrastructure projects;
• In depth knowledge of financing structures and related commercial considerations within energy infrastructure
• Strong experience of financial modelling / analysis and knowledge of wider energy markets;
• Strong report and business case authoring / review skills, including public procurement processes;
• Experienced in interaction and dialogue with companies, investors, internal and external stakeholders;
• Independent thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems;
• Experience of managing complex, multidisciplinary, internal and external teams;
• An appropriate qualification in accounting, banking or finance, or alternatively credible and significant practical experience in one of these areas in infrastructure delivery and development
