The Team
KPMG’s Strategy and Value creation team is looking at hiring a number of exceptional candidates, across grades, to join their London office. The team is looking to attract professional, talented individuals who have a passion for identifying and creating innovative solutions for clients.
The role of the Strategy and Value creation team is to work with C-level Executives to identify, structure and solve their most critical strategic issues across the economic and transaction cycles. As part of a fast-paced and dynamic group, our consultants offer strategic advice on financial, business and operating models to corporate, public sector and private equity clients.
Within the Strategy & Value Creation team we have an established Energy and Natural Resources practice, serving the oil & gas; power and utilities and infrastructure sector serving UK, European and international clients. We work with C-level executives to identify, structure and solve their most critical strategic issues related to deal strategy, growth strategy and operational strategy. As a team, we are a group of bright committed individuals who are passionate about delivering fantastic client work, developing the team around us and having fun both inside and outside of work.

The Role
As an Associate Director within the ENR team you will (supported by Partners and Directors) work with senior clients to help them solve complex business issues. Associate Directors lead the design of engagements and have responsibility for day to day delivery. You will work with your team to shape the approach, develop and present your recommendations.
You will play a leading role in business development, proactively managing on-sell and cross-sell opportunities and supporting the identification, pursuit and conversion of new business development opportunities.
Additionally you will; proactively develop thought leadership; design and lead practice development initiatives; actively develops your own knowledge and expertise in chosen proposition(s) and sector of choice; build and maintain a strong external and internal network; motivate, mentor and develop project team members and appraisees

The person
You will have:
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire your teams and develop outstanding client relationships
• A mix of structured problem solving skills (including strong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumen), ability to deliver insightful recommendations that can be practically executed, excellent written English and oral communication skills (other language skills would be a strong bonus)
• Substantial experience of delivering work into the sectors we serve (oil & gas; power and utilities and infrastructure sector serving UK) and a track record of delivering high impact projects
• Worked for a strategy house, big 4 firm, or central strategy / corporate development team, with experience of leading complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams
• Expertise in ENR clients in delivering across a number of service offerings including strategy, energy transition, Operating Strategy & Cost (including operating model design, cost efficiency, zero based budgeting), deal related experience
• An in depth understanding of the value drivers within the Energy and Natural Resources sector with the ability to talk credibly to C-level clients on the key issues, technological changes and strategic considerations facing the industry
• Experience of managing and supporting high value business development activities
• A first class or 2.1 degree from a leading institution, an MBA or equivalent is a definite plus but is not a minimum requirement
