Assistant manager – Operations support

The role has the successful candidate playing a critical part in ensuring the commercial viability of the Infrastructure team. Reporting in to the Operations Lead, the Operations Support Assistant Manager will provide the drive, advanced analysis, processes and information to maintain commercial control and smooth operations of the Infrastructure team.

KPMG UK are embarking on a Digital strategy focused on a major transformation of the firm’s IT landscape, to revolutionise how KPMG deliver technology services to its clients and end-users. As an Operations Support Assistant Manager in the Infrastructure team you will be expected to deliver a fundamental element of this future-looking strategy whilst also ensuring the current in-flight services are not neglected. The fundamental element lies in helping overhaul what and how Infrastructure charges for its services to clients as well optimising some of its underlying operational processes.


The Role:

• Support the design, implementation and management of the recharge processes across the Infrastructure function to maximise cost recovery of Infrastructure services
• Review, scrutinize, and develop operational process flows (i.e. timecard tracking and reporting, monthly billing cycles)
• Act as the change champion to drive transformational change initiatives
• Drive cost efficiency and transparency across the function (i.e. understand function value proposition and cost levers, work with team leads to build internal & external cost transparency)
• Work closely with team leads to develop, implement and report on performance metrics across infrastructure projects using internal analytics tools (e.g. QuickSight, PowerBI)
• Contribute and assist the finance team in the budget planning, forecasting and monthly/ quarterly/ yearly reporting cycle for the Infrastructure function
• Deliver team training and guidance on internal processes (i.e. timecards reporting in ServiceNow, timesheets reporting in SAP, procurement, supplier contracts)
• Provide commercial support in the proactive management of risk mitigation, including supporting development action plans, updating risk trackers and assisting in achieving timely closure of risk issues


Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience designing and implementing team KPIs (key performance indicators) in an IT organisation
• Solid problem solving, decision making and analytical capabilities
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically using Excel formulas and pivot tables to manipulate data to conduct meaningful analysis
• Commercial acumen, specifically understanding the building blocks of cost models
• Good understanding of financial concepts and processes, for example: how a budget is put together, reading profit & loss statements (P&Ls)
• Experience working closely with technical teams and able to communicate effectively at all levels
• Experience managing senior stakeholders and achieving buy-in in an IT organisation
• Able to work collaboratively with and through others and as part of a team
• Managing both client and stakeholder expectations
• Comfortable to deliver to tight deadlines under pressure
• Experience designing and implementing process automation, e.g. using JIRA/ Confluence and ServiceNow would be a plus
