In Financial Management we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. Our mission statement is to create a sustainable practice which is recognised as being number one in the industry.

We are structured by capabilities (Finance Strategy and Transformation, Enterprise Performance Management, and Finance Operations) but our consultants also have deep industry specific expertise.

The banking team are seeing financial institutions face a period of unprecedented regulatory change in terms of the number of new initiatives, their complexity and the interplay between different regulations. In addition we are seeing continuing pressure on costs. KPMG are recruiting into the FM banking team to help tackle their clients’ issues. We are looking to recruit candidates at Assistant Manager level with skills to support our growth strategy, to work in our Banking Team and across our financial management capability offerings.



The Role

Our Financial Management practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth and the team works with leading Investment and Retail Banks, focussing on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of their Finance & Risk functions. The key drivers of change for our Banking clients are Regulatory reform, Cost Reduction and Risk & Finance Transformation and our service offerings reflect this demand.

Our go to market approach is business-focused and our solutions are developed around client issues.
As part of this team, you will be working with a broad range of clients from the initial diagnosis, strategy formulation and analysis, through to implementation.

Your responsibilities as an Assistant Manager in Financial Management will include:

- Engagement delivery: Working with senior members of the team, shaping the approach to delivery of finance and risk function transformation projects

- People development: support team members and accelerate development with particular emphasis on managing and mentoring engagement team members, coaching and skills transfer

- Practice development: supporting others in the design and development of thought leadership papers / development of new methodologies and propositions

- Business development: contribute to the development of and sustaining relationships both internally and with our clients; including supporting business development activity, contributing to and presenting proposals/ bids for future work



The Person


Successful candidates should have strong finance knowledge and demonstrate the following skills:

- Accountancy qualification – ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent

- Consulting skills are strongly preferred

- Solid project based experience working across several aspects of a finance function (transaction processing, management reporting, financial accounting, planning, budgeting and forecasting)

- Strong analytical skills

- Strong PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills

- Good communicator with the personal skills to build strong and lasting internal and client relationships

- Flexibility to travel

Successful candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:


- The Banking Industry or equivalent (i.e. broker dealer, inter- dealer broker) in a control or change function.

- Development and implementation of Finance operating models

- Cost reduction, strategic cost management , enterprise performance management

- Finance process re-engineering including Lean/Six Sigma

- Finance transformation programs

- Finance function sourcing strategy development and implementation
