We are currently seeking Assistant Managers to join our IFRS 9 Accounting Advisory, Financial Services – Banking department in London during a significant period of growth.

Roles and Responsibilities

Our Banking Accounting Advisory team work closely with other high impact functions within KPMG such as Risk Consulting and Management Consulting to provide a wide range of accounting advisory services including the following:
- Technical accounting support on accounting and regulatory change projects such as IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, new UK GAAP, FINREP and Pillar 3
- Accounting advisory on transactions and financial reporting such as on-call accounting advisory, review of accounting policy and manual, and financial statements
- Accounting advisory with respect to business structuring
- Providing high quality and practical training and education for external and internal audiences

As an Assistant Manager you will:

- Assist with the management of IFRS 9 client opportunities, deliver live IFRS 9 engagements and providing input to larger, multi-disciplinary teams
- Assist clients in their IFRS 9 implementation programme through delivering client workshops/training, direct assistance in performing the assessment and/or review of clients’ assessment. You will be playing this role as part of the IFRS 9 team and will be assisting senior management of the team (e.g. partners and managers) in delivering these services to clients
- Assist in review of technical accounting and risk interpretations required for IFRS 9 prepared by clients
- Assist senior management in providing clients with advice on technical accounting issues and broader impacts of IFRS 9
- Assist in the preparation of presentations, thought leadership collateral and marketing material
- Support the business development of KPMG’s IFRS 9 client proposition/offering, and assisting in the responses to IFRS 9 client proposals, with a primary focus on financial services (in particular banking clients)
- Write client reports based on analytical exercises (e.g. review of clients’ technical accounting decisions, stakeholder interview) to present findings and recommendations
- Monitor, coach and develop others you work with on other non-IFRS 9 engagements

There will also be opportunities to get involved in other accounting areas, as well as regulatory areas, e.g. FINREP, leverage ratio, Basel.

Qualifications and Skills

Must possess professional qualification; ACA, ACCA or CPA. Individuals on track to be exam and time qualified this year may also be considered
- Strong technical knowledge of IAS 39 and IFRS 9 standard and crucially the practical application within the banking industry
- Strong analytical skills in relation to impairment techniques
- Strong project management skills, demonstrated by a record of accounting project delivery
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence and deal with senior individuals
- Ability to complete IFRS 9 client deliverables/solutions
- Excellent written and communication skills; including delivering presentations and an ability to communicate well with clients in writing and verbally

Experience and Background

-
Relevant experience within Financial services, with a focus on technical accounting in Banking
- Prior experience with Impairment process desirable as well as demonstrated experience in accounting change projects
- Strong ability to evaluate technical issues, analyse facts, consult and deliver solutions to clients
- Knowledge of finance processes, in particularly accounting processes and / or reporting requirements advantageous
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business opportunities whilst maintaining a solution mindset as well as drive and resilience to deliver in a pressured environment
- Understanding of accounting developments and key current issues facing clients
- Proven track record in working with teams to bring high quality deliverables to a range of stakeholders
