Job DescriptionDepartment Information

The Student Programmes team oversee the experience of our graduate and apprentice population. Welcoming over 1000 students every year, the team are responsible for the Academy Induction, and bring together our students’ professional qualification, technical and skills learning to ensure outstanding progression and development opportunities. The team act as trusted advisors to business stakeholders, ensuring programmes meet current and future skills needs.

Role and Responsibilities

The Apprenticeships Programme Lead is responsible for leading KPMG’s three rotational apprenticeship programmes (KPMG360°, KPMG360° Digital and KPMG360° Business Services), comprising a population of over 500 apprentices across 14 UK offices.

The role holder is also responsible for driving and shaping KPMG’s broader apprenticeship strategy and appropriate utilisation of apprenticeship levy funds. The role reports into the Head of Student Programmes and the Director responsible for Students, Business and Leadership Skills.

Operational Management and Compliance
- Lead the Apprenticeships Management Team (6 FTE) acting as an escalation point on people operational matters as needed.
- In partnership with the Professional Qualifications team, ensure compliance with apprenticeship standards and policy and report to the training provider for OFSTED purposes.
- Manage programme budgets and oversee reporting processes.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to agree annual recruitment targets and lead the process by which apprentices specialise in business teams.

Stakeholder Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on all matters related to apprenticeships. Build firm-wide relationships and communications to promote and drive usage of apprenticeships.

Strategy and Planning
- Shape KPMG’s apprenticeship strategy and response to the apprenticeship levy as a core member and work stream lead in the apprenticeships steering group.
- Work closely with trainees and business stakeholders to identify learning needs and work with Business Learning partners to build pathways and programmes that address feedback and future skills needs.
- Lead development of quarterly apprentice forums and other key learning events, collaborating with the wider UK Learning teams to build exciting learning opportunities. Support the delivery of the Academy Induction.

Ambassador for Apprenticeship Programmes
- Represent KPMG’s apprenticeship programmes internally and externally, including on the Apprenticeship Champions Diversity Network, and in discussions with clients and other external stakeholders.
- Host and present at apprenticeship forums, events and briefings.

Contribute to the success of UK Learning through involvement other key projects as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

- Experience in the development and/or management of student programmes
- An excellent KPMG network, and understanding of KPMG’s services
- A breadth of people related experience in field such as learning and resourcing is desirable
- Experience of managing teams and performance management is essential


- Strong team player, with demonstrable experience of being able to collaborate and engage, especially in a distributed team environment.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills and demonstrable stakeholder management experience (including management of senior stakeholders).
- Strong project and programme management and leadership skills.
- Ability to perform well with minimal direction or supervision and with a proactive work style.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – with proven ability to make a high impact. Excellent presentation skills.
- Well organised with good prioritisation and workload management abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong people management and development skills.
