Forensic - Using specialist accounting, investigation and business skills in assisting clients involved in commercial or regulatory disputes or in the investigation of fraud and impropriety. Working in the team will mean getting involved in a broad range of projects, i.e. Fraud investigations, and tracing assets.

Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities

We are looking for an energy sector analyst to join our P&U team.

The successful applicant will be required to contribute to the delivery of outstanding client deliverables. This includes supporting the project manager to develop and present tailored research and analysis to provide valuable insight for the client. Key roles will include:

- Report writing and slide packs
- Building analytical models
- Conducting research and analysis on companies, trends, and industries
- Contributing to analysis in internal and external meetings to help solve client’s issues
- Presenting your findings

As part of this, we would expect that s/he has excellent written and oral communication skills. S/he will be required to attend client meetings, present on key findings and be confident interpreting client requirements and translating these into the final deliverable.

The successful applicant should also be an excellent team player. A significant part of the role will be supporting senior team members not only in client deliverables but also in driving business development work such as proposals and thought leadership. S/he will also be expected to actively contribute to team meetings and team development including contributing to team initiatives to improve core processes.
S/he may be required to work across different teams in KPMG. Where this is possible s/he should look to build their own internal network which can be drawn upon for cross functional projects in the future.

Qualifications and Skills

- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Perfect command of English.
- An ability to work to tight deadlines, on multiple projects simultaneously, and to produce deliverables of consistently high quality.
- Strong academic background. A degree in Economics, or a science or mathematics based subject is highly desirable.
- Intermediate excel skills / modelling experience is desirable.

Experience and Background

- 1-2 years’ experience in the energy and utility sector in the UK or abroad is useful. If not, a keen interest to develop knowledge in this area is required.
- If the candidate does not have experience in the utility sector, experience working in a regulated industry, a regulatory body or a consultancy firm is essential.
- Experience working in a team, often to tight deadlines and often on multiple tasks at once.
- Experience providing robust research and analysis in an environment where rigour and accuracy is vital.
- Experience in building successful networks to identify business opportunities and win work is highly desirable.
