Our Investment Advisory practice is a key growth area for KPMG over the next few years, supporting significant investment in the team, new ideas and technology. The team of 85 investment professionals offers full investment consulting services to both trustees and sponsors of pension schemes across both the defined benefit and defined contribution markets. Over the last couple of years it has expended its breadth to provide advice to charities, insurers and high net worth individuals on a range of investment issues.

We currently have an exciting position working within our Transitions team based in our Leeds Office.

The Responsibilities

We are looking for individuals with the ability to combine strong project management skills, good organisational and interpersonal skills, with high attention to detail.

The role will include:

- Being responsible for oversight/checking of large/complex transition exercises: checking project plans and the associated timelines, checking any documentation required for the projects, and stepping in to progress difficult issues
- Producing/checking final draft instructions for execution and finalising client correspondence required for clients to execute transition projects
- Calculating/checking cost and fee estimates for a range of possible activities
- Ensuring there are reliable audit trails and backing should issues arise
- Improving transition processes to help implement more efficient solutions for clients
- Taking a leading role in research related to transitions (such as custody, FX and Transition Managers)
- Managing project budgets and tracking financials to meet firm efficiency target
- Acting as mentor/coach/performance manager to junior members of the team and also performing the role of a transitions expert to the wider investment team
- Attending client meetings and pitches where opportunities arise


- Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification and also have evidence of a good numerical ability
- Professional qualifications may be advantageous but not essential

Experience and Background

- Experience within asset transitions is required
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Project management experience
- Proven ability of high level attention to detail and ability to look at input from third parties objectively
- Strong appreciation of risk management procedures
- Ability to draft clear and precise instructions
- Able to take on a high level of responsibility from the outset
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to listen to the requirements of a project and then lead on it to completion
- The ability to work effectively in a team including delegation
- Willingness to manage internal and external clients and build strong relationships
- Highly organised and a methodical thinker to ensure projects are prioritised appropriately
- Willingness to manage multiple tasks to demanding timeframes when required
- Be responsible for delivering projects to a number of colleagues at varying levels across different locations within the UK
- Willingness to take the lead on projects and be responsible for their successful completion
