Product Owner

The Team

KPMG Tax and Legal provide services to some of the largest companies. Our goal is to achieve the highest standards of quality and to deliver excellent solutions for our clients. Our Tax Technology and Innovation team has around 150 members and we expect to grow to around 250 over the course of the next 12 months. The successful candidate would form part of this team.

The role

The Product Owner will work as part of our rapidly growing Tax Technology & Innovation team. KPMG is investing $5bn over 5 years in technology. You will join a team that will be at the forefront of changing an entire industry, helping our clients adapt and make the most of technological advances to help them better manage their tax obligations. The PO will serve the product development team as the customer proxy and will review and contribute to the product vision and roadmap maintained by the wider product management team. You will work with our team of tax and technology experts to ensure all business and software requirements are gathered, organised and understood. No prior experience in tax is necessary.



- Work alongside our development team to create web applications that will underpin the delivery of our tax services.
- Communicate and meet with internal and external stakeholders to translate the business vision and needs of stakeholders into actionable user stories.
- Work with project managers and technical leads to determine scope and priorities for product development cycles
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure that they understand the vision for the product and adhere to delivery timelines
- Running steering/working group sessions with stakeholders
- Analysis of business benefits realisation
- Explain complex processes to the tax teams in a simple, easy to understand way
- Manage development budget and manage budget requests for future development pipeline
- Translate complex user experiences into software requirements
The person

- Strong background in User Experience
- Passionate about delivering excellent products
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Requirements engineering and documentation
- Experience working on multiple scrum projects
- Knowledge of agile methodologies
- Experience working with major Cloud providers and utilising the inbuilt capabilities of these platforms (i.e. cognitive APIs)
- Experience using SQL (desirable)
- Experience managing .Net web application development
- Experience implementing technology for a shared services centre.
- Strong academic track record in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar, relevant course (desirable)
- You’ll have demonstrable experience working in a product development environment, with recent experience being that of a Product Owner or Business Analyst with state-of-the-art software systems
- Experience working across a geographically diverse team.
Location: The role can be based anywhere in the UK, though preference will be given to candidates in Glasgow and London. Regular travel to Glasgow will be required once travel conditions permit this.
