The Team

KPMG Tax and Legal provide services to some of the largest companies. Our goal is to achieve the highest standards of quality and to deliver excellent solutions for our clients. Our Tax Technology and Innovation team has around 150 members and we expect to grow to around 250 over the course of the next 12 months. The successful candidate would form part of this team.


The Role

The Principal Product Owner will work as part of our rapidly growing Tax Technology & Innovation team. KPMG is investing $5bn over 5 years in technology. You will lead a team that will be at the forefront of changing an entire industry, helping our clients adapt and make the most of technological advances to help them better manage their tax obligations. The PPO will lead a portfolio of products and manage a team of Product Owners and Business Analysts to define a roadmap for a portfolio of products. You will work with the leadership of our tax and technology business to execute our business strategy as well as ensuring that we make the most of technological change. No prior experience in tax is necessary.

Lead a team of 6-10 Product Owners and Business Analysts

Communicate and meet with the firms senior leadership to shape the business vision ensuring that your team are able to execute that vision.

Manage the scope and priorities across your portfolio for product development cycles

Ensure your tema is trained and effectively managing interactions with development teams to ensure that they understand the vision for the product and adhere to delivery timelines

Running steering/working group sessions with stakeholders

Ensure effective tracking of business benefits realisation

Explain complex processes to the tax teams and our clients in a simple, easy to understand way

Manage portfolio development budget and manage budget requests for future development pipeline

Translate complex user experiences into software requirements

The person

Experience leading a portfolio of products

Experience managing, leading and developing teams

Strong background in User Experience

Passionate about delivering excellent products

Excellent verbal and written communication

Requirements engineering and documentation

Experience working on scaled scrum projects

Knowledge of agile methodologies

Experience working with major Cloud providers and utilising the inbuilt capabilities of these platforms (ie cognitive APIs)

Experience using SQL (desirable)

Experience managing .Net web application development

Experience implementing technology for a shared services centre.

Strong academic track record in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or similar, relevant course (desirable)

You’ll have significant experience as a Senior/Principal Product Owner (or similar) with state-of-the-art software systems

Experience working across a geographically diverse team. (Desirable)

The role can be based anywhere in the UK, though preference will be given to candidates in Glasgow and London. Regular travel to Glasgow will be required once travel conditions permit this.
