Job DescriptionThe Team


Joining our industry leading practice will expose you to work on a range of high profile assignments helping local government and health providers, commissioners and regulators address their most challenging issues. You will benefit from working with and alongside specialists from a number of disciplines and experts from our Global Centre of Excellence. Given our position as the leading advisor to the NHS we are frequently approached to support the most complex and high profile programmes. Examples of this include our work with stakeholders across Greater Manchester on social care, the New Care Models Team at NHS England, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust (HSJ Trust or the Year), the NHS Leadership Academy and emerging Accountable Care Systems across England

The Role


We expect our Senior Managers to be able to perform in key areas: Delivery of projects; Sales and business development; Practice development; Managing and leading our people. The Senior Manager appointed will focus predominantly on our Local Government consulting practice, although they will possess core skills, experience and a network that enables them to also work flexibly across health and human services markets (for example health, social care, regulaton). Their technical competence will be in Operational Transformation and they will also contribute more broadly to the growth of Operational Transformation across the wider KPMG Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare practice.

Delivery of projects

You will lead the delivery of large scale performance improvement and transformation programmes; working with clients across a broad spectrum local government engagements including:

- fiscal challenges faced by local government

- local government reform

- social care demand and redesign

- cost reduction

- performance improvement

Successful candidates will be expected to manage work as an integral leader within the Health and Human Services team, leading teams and working collaboratively with KPMG colleagues and clients to:

- Lead the delivery of large programmes/ engagements that i
mplement practical change for the benefit of service users

- Provide insight based on detailed analysis and international best practice

- Plan and deliver changes to help improve operational performance and reduce costs

- Introduce and evaluate new ways of working

- Reconfigure services within an organisation or more broadly across a local government and health-economy

- Support the integration of health and social care and regional devolution

- Move services into alternative settings and develop new models of care

The Person


You will be a talented and ambitious senior leader with a demonstrable working experience in local government, ideally with health and central government knowledge.
The ideal candidate will have deep and relevant experience evidenced by their demonstrable track record of leading teams to deliver significant transformations in local government.
They must also be able to operate effectively and demonstrate an ability to successfully carry out business development, including proactively build and maintain strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (such as Local Government executive teams including the Chief Executive or Finance Director).
