Job DescriptionThe Team


GSG’s Aerospace & Defence team work with Government and Industry on the biggest, most complex, and pressing critical strategic issues across the economic and transaction cycles. We work with senior clients to deliver strategic and commercial advice on financial, business and operating models to the Ministry of Defence, National Security agencies and large Defence contractors. Most work is undertaken in multidisciplinary teams, and there will be opportunities to work across both public and private sectors

The Role


KPMG’s Global Strategy Group (GSG) is looking at hiring a number of exceptional candidates, across grades, to join their London and Bristol offices. The team is looking to attract professional, talented individuals who have a passion for identifying and creating innovative solutions for clients.

Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a team to address complex market, strategic, operational and organisational issues.
- Design and execute financial analyses (including high level modelling capability) to support development of strategic insights (including consideration of market development, organisational options and responses, capacity/ capability-building requirements etc.)
- Conceive and undertake primary and secondary research to help clients assess the impact of the above on their organisations.
- Develop business cases and business plans underpinned by robust financial analysis in support of strategic initiatives.



- Lead work-stream and analysis on engagements and take responsibility for small teams when required.
- Contribute to the delivery and presentation of client deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with client staff and management, often working in joint teams in the development of and delivery of recommendations. Present findings to senior client management.
- Be involved in business development activity, showing initiative in building relationships with clients during engagements and while at client site.
- Contribute to thought leadership and knowledge management to support practice development.

The Person


The successful candidates typically will have experience of working for a strategy house, big 4 firm, public-sector organisation or central strategy / corporate development team of a large company.
You will have a strong understanding of the value drivers within the Aerospace & Defence sector and will demonstrate the ability to work effectively, influence and challenge senior people (client and internal), in the Aerospace & Defence sector, whilst working on a project or business development initiative

Qualifications and Skills:

- Intellectual mobility, inquisitiveness and an ability to work independently; be comfortable developing answers and solutions often when the client requirement remains unclear, or changes.
- Goal driven - focused on helping the client to understand issues and resolve key questions; ability to drive through to an outcome and to gain stakeholder support in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills combined with sound commercial acumen.
- A pragmatic and logical approach to analysis and problem solving.
- Personal drive to deliver results within tight deadlines.


- Ability to assess technical information to distil the key strategic insights and convey these succinctly, clearly and confidently orally and in written form.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, using approaches such as problem statements, hypotheses generation, storyboarding, etc. to make an impact.

- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of different engagement types, working hours and work environments and locations.
- Language skills would be a strong bonus.
