Job Description
Role: NM Pursuit Project Manager - Bristol / Reading
Detail: Full Time, 12 month FTC
Grade: C
Location: Bristol, Reading or would consider other offices in SW region.

Market Development is a team of qualified and experienced professionals working shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues to drive profitable growth. This role is for a Pursuit Manager (C Grade) within the National Pursuit Team. The National Pursuit Team (NPT) supports and drives up the conversion rate of the firm’s highest and most strategic opportunities by managing best practice and building capability across the business.

The successful candidate will contribute to increased conversion of opportunities as assigned to the National Pursuit Team and conversion rate of the firm more broadly by:

- Advising partners, senior staff and other pursuit team members across the entire pursuit process i.e. from Qualification to Pursuit Debrief
- Provide advice and constructive challenge to the engagement team across all major elements of the pursuit process including maintaining action plans, developing pursuit timelines with key milestones, supporting and developing the client contact plan, proposal design and production, FRAME and political analysis sessions and responsibility for quality check and review.
- Contributing to and directing the development of pursuit collateral incorporating the value proposition
- Sharing deep knowledge of the pursuit sales methodology and coaching across all stages of the pursuit process
- Implementing and creating pursuit best practice and ensuring that the team adheres to KPMG branding
- Providing coaching to all levels of the firm on pursuit process best practices
- Working closely with the Pursuit Leader in supporting the most strategic opportunities in the South to help achieve the region’s growth ambitions

The position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities throughout the sales lifecycle of a given pursuit.
These include:

- Background analysis to support our sales methodology including political analysis, value proposition, competitor analysis and sales strategy.
- Contribute to formulation of our key value proposition of a bid, including the creation of collateral material required
- Create and execute the project management plan and drive the project forwards to achieve critical milestones, communicate and drive timelines for deliverables across the team
- Team management: Ensure that all team members have a clear understanding of their individual roles and responsibilities
- Identify appropriate team members required at each stage of a pursuit and ensure their inputs are utilised correctly
- Contribute to the content of the materials and ensure quality of the materials is of a high standard and persuasive for the client, making changes as required.
- Manage each client interaction with preparation and debrief sessions and contribute to the client interaction plan
- Create / review support materials – e.g. capability documents, case studies and client meeting collateral to ensure high standards
- Ensure all key stakeholders are aware of timelines and their deliverables
- Takes responsibility for meeting pursuit deadlines
- Facilitate a storyboard content session with stakeholders and produce document structure from the results of the session
- Prepare and conduct an interviews with key content owners and then to draft the non-technical content for review by the content owner
- Guide team through Deal Board rationale and requirements
- Guide team on commercial, legal, quality and risk obligations and wider firm interactions where appropriate
- Manage and report on progress, escalating issues when necessary
- Collaborate and engage with the design team
- Manage key stakeholders’ expectations of the design and production process
- Advocate, utilise and develop pursuit best practice processes and tools
- Guide the design team on concepts that will support the value proposition. Shortlist the concepts and present to the Pursuit Leader and Lead Partner for approval
- Co-ordinate and provide support to the Pursuit Leader on the Test & Improve, Challenge and / or Review sessions
- Conduct a compliance and quality check against the client’s formal request
- Where allocated, provide supervision of Pursuit Co-ordinators during the proposal process
- Manage Pursuit Presentation Activities
- Co-ordinate resources including the scheduling of rehearsal sessions
- Where appropriate provide a draft content outline or suggestions for the materials based on key messages and presentation objectives
- In conjunction with the Pursuit Leader / Presentation Coach, establish and manage the presentation run-sheet
- Attend all presentation rehearsals and provide presentation feedback
- Work with pursuit team members and the design team to prepare collateral such as AO storyboards, placemats, talk tracks, PowerPoint presentations
- Co-ordinate and provide support to the Pursuit Leader / Presentation Coach on Panel Review sessions
- Support the Pursuit Leader with post presentation activities and client contact plan
- High quality presentation materials produced on time
- Presentation materials that support our competitive positioning and value propositionManage Debrief Activities:

- Advise proposal outcome to pursuit team administrator
- Write up content for any lessons learned and provide to the Pursuit Leader and the Manager Pursuit Knowledge
- Schedule and prepare the win / loss debrief with the Pursuit Leader and the Lead Partner
- Drive the internal debrief process liaising closely with the Sales Operation team
- Improvements in pursuit process and market feedback from client debriefs
- Observations from NPT Pursuit Leader
- Feedback from internal clients

Wider responsibilities:

- Active contribution to the team and the development of better practices
- Sharing of skills experience with wider NPT and firm
- Continual improvement: Refine and enhance our processes, collateral etc.
- Store and share appropriate materials with wider team
- Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Highly organised with ability to project management multiple workstreams proactively and confidently. Demonstrable track record of being critical to the winning of business opportunities.
- Excellent writing and communication skills including the ability to present complex and difficult messages skilfully and to produce writing that uses clear, precise and persuasive language
- An understanding of sales cycles and the ability to leverage relevant prior learnings and experience
- Sounds project management skills and the ability to prioritise, set and meet deadlines
- Ability to develop working relationships with the most senior people across the firm
- A sense of urgency and flexibility
- Ability to work under pressure, show determination and persistence
- A sense of humour and the ability to become a critical member of a committed, focused team
- Attention to detail and resourceful.
- Experience gained in an environment in which achievements were based on personal credibility and success in building relationships, as opposed to formal authority.
