Job DescriptionThe Team

We are looking for an Assistant Manager to join our Public Sector team in Bristol. Our Public Sector team provide tax advisory services to a broad base of clients including healthcare, education, charities and social housing providers. The team delivers bespoke solutions to clients to help them manage cash and cashflows and the implication Indirect Tax has on finances and funding for projects.

KPMG has a dedicated national team of Public Sector VAT specialists, located throughout our national practice. You would be primarily working with our clients across the region although where appropriate could sometimes be involved in client projects in other parts of the country. Our three principal areas of client focus within the Public Sector are education, health and housing, although we also have a number of clients in local and central government and the wider charity sector. Our services to clients include pure advisory, opportunity and compliance reviews, training and preparation of reclaims to HMRC. We collaborate closely with our colleagues in our National Public Sector Tax group as well as in our audit and advisory businesses, to deliver value to KPMG’s clients.

We have a significant growth plan over the next three years and in order to support this we are looking to recruit motivated individuals with a commercial edge who are seeking a real challenge, at the Assistant Manager level, to build on our successes to date and help us achieve our growth targets.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will be a key member of our team:
- Providing high quality Indirect Tax advisory services on a broad range of indirect tax issues to a wide range of clients within the public sector;
- Leading and managing large client projects;
- Delegating work to and reviewing work carried out by junior members of the team;
- Maintaining, developing and ultimately managing KPMG’s strong relationships with clients;
- Developing innovative solutions and opportunities for our clients;
- Assisting in the implementation of business development initiatives;
- Developing and managing more junior members of the team from both a technical and commercial perspective;
- Working closely with senior managers, directors and partners who will provide you with the support and opportunities to assist you in realising your full potential.

Qualifications and Skills

- Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
- Prior Indirect Tax experience
