Job Description
The National Markets Data & Analytics team use advanced data analysis technologies and techniques to help our clients answer business questions and commercial issues.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical advisory work to our clients that allows them to exploit their information and data needs. They will be working amongst high performing individuals, delivering industry leading analytics, reporting and data management capabilities. The projects are both exciting and complex in nature and will allow you to utilise cutting edge data methodologies and techniques

Our National Markets business serves UK listed businesses, private companies and public sector organisations primarily based in the UK, and we are seeing significant growth in our work across this sector.

We recruit across four main areas of focus: Modelling, Data Consulting, Business Intelligence, and Advanced Analytics. This role is focused on the Data Consulting segment, providing strategic and technical advisory work to our clients. There is also opportunity to work across all areas of our team, being involved in many varied and exciting projects.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Managers and Director of the team, the Data Consultant – Manager role involves:

- Client delivery
o Working directly with our clients, conducting interviews, running workshops and leading teams to advise clients on their journey towards better use of data in their business.
o Leveraging techniques and tools to: develop data analytics solutions; identify patterns, extract outliers, and perform analyses to address client problems; develop data visualisations to display analyses to end users
o Taking charge of project delivery: from initial client consultation to presentation of results, being responsible for the delivery of client facing projects; overseeing the solution design and architecture; managing a KPMG team of various sizes and abilities; being the main day to day point of contact for senior client contacts; and taking ownership and responsibility for seeing the project through to its completion
o Leading multiple large, complex work streams in rapidly changing environments, which includes identifying and managing risks, managing project budgets, resource allocation, WIP management and billing and delivering to the requirements

- Enhancing team capabilities
o Developing propositions, focusing on specific themes and/or clients
o Leading delivery teams, giving clear directions, as well as positive and constructive feedback. Coaching less experienced staff and assisting in the development of others
o Taking a proactive lead for knowledge management and sharing within a specialist team
o Keeping abreast of developments across the data and analytics landscape, with the desire to translate cutting-edge techniques and technologies into our project outputs

- Managing the team
o Helping the leadership to manage resource allocation, training, performance management and financial performance of the team
o Building and sustaining relationships with clients and internally within KPMG and use these relationships to identify work
o Identifying and managing risks, ensuring the Firm's risk management frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively

The Person
This exciting role will fully utilise the candidate’s consulting, data analysis and data management skills. Candidates should have 5 - 8 years of experience working in at least one of the core areas with experience in one of the supplementary areas being desirable. Field specific, external accreditation with an appropriate body is desirable.
Core Areas
- Defined and/or implemented data governance strategy and processes including the definition of data standards
- Defined and/or implemented data management approaches. Including but not limited to the selection of appropriate technology solutions, definition and running of data management processes and definition and maintenance of data quality standards
- Defined and/or implemented a data or information strategy for an organisation

Supplementary areas
- Built or assessed organisations against data maturity models or frameworks
- Led projects which focused on data quality or data migration activities
- Defined and implemented Business Intelligence or reporting strategies
- Appreciation of reporting, modelling and other data technologies
- Designing and querying relational databases, including ETL and SQL development
- Data visualisation tools and techniques

In addition candidates must be able to demonstrate a number, if not all, of the following:
- Proven experience of working in an analytics business partnering environment, preferably in a professional services / consulting environment
- Experience of leading and delivering data projects for clients, including the experience of leading and managing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills and the ability to explain complex technical analysis to a non-technical audience
- The ability to manage time and work independently with multiple stakeholders
- A desire to understand business problems and to evaluate the results of your work in a business context
- Proven experience of helping clients with complex issues and dealing with the uncertainty that can arise in project situations, including having a tenacious problem solving and can-do attitude;
- Entrepreneurial and a commercial mind-set;
- High degree of personal motivation, ability to self-manage whilst being professional and personable
