Job Description
The KPMG Midlands and South Restructuring team is made up of approximately sixty people and is led by four partners who in turn are supported by a group of five directors. The team covers the East and West Midlands together with the South West. We believe it to be one of the largest Restructuring teams in that geography.

The focus of the team is on primarily providing services to underperforming, stressed and distressed businesses in the public and private sectors.Typically these services will range from advising businesses on enhancing values, selling businesses on behalf of stakeholders, turnaround and formal insolvency proceedings.

The Restructuring market continues to evolve with work being secured from an ever increasing diverse group of stakeholders. Accordingly as the business adapts to reflect these changes a business development role, at Associate Director level, has been created in Birmingham to augment the partner and director target coverage model. The expectation is that the role will primarily be external market focussed and will target corporates (typically SME’s) and multipliers (regional law and accountancy firms).

The individual appointed to this role will be expected to spend the majority of their time expanding and maintaining a defined network of external relationships in order to originate new work opportunities and raise the awareness of (i) KPMG and specifically (ii) KPMG Restructuring. It is anticipated that the majority of the opportunities generated will be Restructuring related with the remainder being for the wider KPMG business.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Create, agree and execute a targeting plan designed to expand and maintain the team’s coverage model with the primary focus being corporates, and local/regional accountants and legal practices.

- In conjunction with the partner and director group seek to originate new opportunities from a defined network in the Midlands region.

- Building on existing relationships develop a strong and extensive external network, raising the profile of KPMG and specifically KPMG Restructuring.

- Act as a role model and coach for business development to the M&S restructuring team at large and provide support to colleagues as required.

- Leverage the KPMG network as needed to secure opportunities noting that this role is outward market/client facing.

Experience and Background

- Tangible income generation evidence.

- Ability to quickly understand and assimilate a client’s requirements and propose a suitable way forward.

- Be confident interacting at the most senior levels internally and externally, while at the same time able to interact well with peers and other more junior members of the team.

- Demonstrable experience in becoming a “trusted adviser” to C-suite executives in a short time period.

- Demonstrable experience of maintaining a network of relationships across a geography and generating revenue from those relationships.

- Sales experience, or equivalent, with corporate, legal or accountancy organisations.

- Well organised, detail conscious, proactive, hardworking, and resilient.

- Flexible in their approach and able to work under pressure.
