Business Continuity Executive - (E Grade), Information Assurance

Service line Information

UK Quality & Risk Management teams set, implement and enforce policies and procedures designed to help to enable KPMG UK: (i) oversee and monitor service quality, (ii) protect the brand and reputation of KPMG, (iii) comply with laws, (iv) comply with regulations and professional standards, and (v) minimize the risk of financial claims against KPMG UK.

Our Information Assurance team sits within Quality and Risk Management and is responsible for our information assurance and information management policies and procedures, responding to business and client queries, data loss prevention, training and awareness, and assurance (including ISO 27001).

Supporting our business and our clients in understanding and setting up secure ways of working is an important part in winning and delivering work.

Business Continuity exists to ensure that the firm’s people, physical and property assets are protected and that the firm has the capability to maintain its business in the face of adversity. To help achieve this, Business Continuity assess the physical risks that the firm faces, advise the firm on appropriate risk and impact mitigation measures, work closely with the Partnership to enhance the Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery readiness and identify means to improve operations as part of an integrated risk management initiative.

The Role

Reporting directly to the UK Business Continuity Manager, the Business Continuity Executive (E grade) is a member of the Business Continuity Management Team with oversight of a network of resource within Business Support services and the Client Facing (“Business”) capabilities across the UK. The team is responsible for ensuring that the firm maintains a state of readiness in the areas of crisis and incident management and business continuity/recovery as well as ongoing risk and impact mitigation

The role will give someone a great opportunity to demonstrate and grow their skills and knowledge through practical hands on experience within a large Professional Services firm.

Main Responsibilities


- Business Impact Analysis
- To understand and identify with stakeholders the firm’s key business processes at the appropriate level, as documented in the Business Impact Analysis, which identify the main dependencies (including people, buildings, technology, information and 3rd party services).
- To maintain the BIA, particularly in response to any major changes that occur to the firm or the operating environment.
- Crisis/Incident Management Readiness
- To support the incident management on-line training and on-boarding programme for partners with local office or central crisis team roles.
- Organise, plan, communicate and deliver the annual mass communication system exercise that takes place across all UK offices.
- Business Recovery Readiness
- Business recovery status reporting.
- Recovery exercise planning: to ensure that each business function in each UK office has a business continuity co-ordinator (BCC), deputy and business recovery plan in place.
- To arrange training and ensure that each BCC and deputy has been trained and attended an exercise to validate their respective plans.
- To support the BCM team in the execution of recovery planning exercises – including delivery of exercises.
- To support the invoking of UK business recovery response.
- Clients
- To assist with the response to client tender requests for information and on-site reviews if need be.

- Maintenance of BCM systems.
- Organising and communicating crisis, incident and business recovery training and exercise programmes.
- Assisting, and deputizing if need be, in the management of invoking the business recovery plans.
- Ensure that the firm’s BCMS is appropriately communicated throughout the organization, including portal maintenance.
Skills and competences

- Independent / self-motivated – capable of working in a virtual, geographically distanced team.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Some level of analytical capability.
- Able to travel and work in UK offices.
- Understanding of the firm’s structure and business activities – or related experience of a large corporate.
- Capable of interacting with all grades (Senior Partner to Graduate Trainee)
- Adaptability - potential for progression and increased responsibility.
Qualifications

- Ideally accredited with a level of membership of the Business Continuity Institute (though not essential)
- Some project management experience ( accreditation an advantage)
