Job Description
The Team

KPMG UK’s Infrastructure Advisory Group (IAG) is a team of roughly 150 professionals and is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading independent financial and commercial advisers in the infrastructure sector. IAG has locations in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester and is organised on a national basis.

IAG provides in-depth advice on the strategic, financial, regulatory and commercial issues driving investments in infrastructure across Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure in the UK and internationally. This ranges from providing strategic thinking and advice to companies and investors to enable private capital to fund infrastructure, to working with the public sector to develop the business cases to enable projects to happen, and advising through negotiations that bring the public and private sectors together. We also work closely with other functions within KPMG to advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, valuations, tax, accounting, and due diligence issues.

Social infrastructure is a key business area for IAG and covers the healthcare, education, local authority and defence sectors. The business is expanding rapidly and is looking for a high quality candidate to support this growth.

The Role

The associate director provides senior leadership to the team, working closely with the Directors and Partners to lead our client engagements and lead business development activity.
- Senior day to day leadership of client engagements providing robust commercial insight
- Building enduring client relationships
- Securing and steering input from internal teams and external advisers
- Producing, reviewing and overseeing development high quality documentation and presentations
- Overseeing the development of financial models providing review, guidance and advice
- Leading business development and network building
- Leading proposals and pitch development for new business
- Developing sector specific market intelligence
- Providing training, guidance and leadership to the junior team members
- Ensuring engagement administration, compliance and risk management procedures are adhered to
- Performance management, coaching and mentoring of junior team members
- Any other duties commensurate with the senior nature of the role.

The Person

- Significant experience in a senior capacity of infrastructure projects within the public arena, either as a bidder, investor, public procurer or lender. It is preferable that this experience is within the local government, health, defence or education sectors although this is not required;
- In depth knowledge of financing structures and related commercial considerations;
- Familiarity with public procurement processes;
- Strong financial modelling and financial analysis capability and knowledge of the financial markets;
- Strong report and business case authoring and review skills;
- Assured and experienced in a senior client facing role;
- Experienced in interaction and dialogue with companies, investors, internal and external stakeholders;
- Independent thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems;
- Experience of managing complex, multidisciplinary, internal and external teams;
- An appropriate qualification in accounting, banking, chartered surveying or similar, or alternatively credible and significant practical experience in one of these areas or in infrastructure delivery and development.
