The Role:

An opportunity for a motivated individual, to join our Scotland corporate tax team as an International Tax Manager. The home office for the role is Aberdeen (with flexible / hybrid working) but some regional and national travel to client sites and other KPMG offices may be required.

We are looking for a Manager who is seeking a dynamic working environment within a strong supportive team where they can provide tax services to a diverse client base consisting of UK listed, PE backed, inbound and family owned groups.

As well as working with existing clients, a large part of the role will be to identify new clients and grow our existing client base.

This role will focus on opportunities in Scotland, across all sectors (Energy, Technology, Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Food, Drink and Agriculture and Tourism).

We require a lead client tax advisor, responsible for the delivery of tax services to clients:
• Providing tax advisory services to a variety of clients and managing the successful delivery of commercially viable and technically excellent advice involving tax due diligence, structuring, international and other advisory work.
• Liaising with specialists in Indirect Tax, People Services, Stamp Taxes and overseas KPMG offices to manage their input into tax advisory projects.
• Managing the compliance process for clients, including liaising with our dedicated Tax Centre of Excellence.
• Liaise with other service lines such as Advisory, Deals and Audit to ensure co-ordinated service to the client.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and identifying leads for new work.
• Ensuring that clients are kept up to date on developments within the corporate tax world that may affect their businesses.
• Seeking out and pursuing business development opportunities with clients and targets and participating with Senior Managers / Directors / Partners in business development activities.
• Helping to prepare proposals for new work, including researching target and client companies and on technical issues to identify new solutions / products.
• Be market facing to create and maintain relationships and increase the KPMG brand in the North East of Scotland.
• Attend and host at client seminars and events.
• Managing teams and coaching and developing junior members of staff both in respect of technical delivery, soft skills and business development.
• Keeping internal control records up to date and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures.
• Manage client financials.
• Lead by example with client relationships, technical quality and service delivery.

Leadership & Management:

Reporting to the Tax Leadership, this is a key role for the team with excellent promotion opportunities.

Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:

The role will involve interaction with multiple external senior stakeholders, including shareholders, company directors, CFOs and high net worth individuals and will cover a wide range of services, from specialist tax advisory to tax accounting.

The role is a key role in delivery of the firm’s local and UK strategy in respect of growth. Part of the National Markets tax team, with direct accountability to local tax leadership.

Technical role requirements:

• Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
