About the programme

Combining hands-on client work and professional study, the Japan Practice in Tax  and Pensions programme suits ambitious graduates who are keen to gain early international experience to aid their professional development. Both Japanese language skills and an appreciation of Japanese culture would be essential. The Japan Practice is part of International Executive Services and specialises in providing compliance and tax advisory services to Japanese businesses in the UK and their expatriate employees.

Key Skills Required

- Japanese language ability – JPLT Level N3 (or equivalent)
- Interest in a career in personal tax
- International mindset

Tasks and Responsibilities

You will assist in the day-to-day running of the Japan Practice client portfolio, managing your own workload and operating a compliance programme. This will include personal tax returns and tax advice services for international assignees. You will also be working with KPMG’s Japan Practice team across all levels, and liaising with other departments and offices in KPMG’s global network. Day-to-day work includes answering queries from clients by telephone and in writing, and developing strong relationships with client HR contacts and expatriates.

Qualifications you'll work for

Dual ICAS CA and Tax qualification – you will attend the nine month Tax Business School programme along with your colleagues in the general Tax graduate intake.



Our Requirements

As a general rule, you'll be expected to meet the following requirements:
- Japanese language ability (JLPT Level N3, or equivalent)
- Minimum grade B GCSE* Maths
- Minimum grade B GCSE* English Language
- Minimum of 320 UCAS Tariff points (or 26 UCAS points)
- Minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline
* or equivalent
