All your training will be undertaken by dedicated KPMG Tax Business School tutors at their offices in London.
Our dual ICAS and Tax qualification is an intensive nine month training programme followed by a 3 year training contract.

Tasks and Responsibilities

When you join, you will attend the nine month intensive programme that's designed to equip you with all the core skills and knowledge you'll need to start contributing within our teams.  After joining the office; you can expect to be involved in the following activities:-
- Preparation of a range of tax advisory and compliance work
- Preparation of tax returns and computations
- Acting as a key member of the client service team with smaller clients on day to day tax matters and working with the wider client service team on larger clients 
- Working with specialists from other tax areas and other disciplines to ensure that all relevant KPMG offerings are discussed with clients and targets 
- Keeping internal control records up to date and ensuring compliance with quality control procedures 
- Ensuring fees are raised regularly, identifying situations where overruns can be billed and assisting senior members of the department in billing for advisory work

Technology Risk Consulting Public Sector provides services of both an assurance and advisory nature that include:

A large amount of our work involves providing assurance, advice and attestation to clients on their IT systems and processes, IT risks, IT general controls and IT projects. This work is delivered through stand alone assignments, or as part of external and internal audit engagements.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities attributable to this role will include some or all of the following:

- Managing the day-to-day delivery of IT assurance services and reviewing the work of team members
- Drafting terms of reference / scoping of IT assurance work
- Responsibility for the production of initial draft reports and work papers for client engagements
- Building and managing excellent client relationships across a range of clients
- Actively identifying and progressing business development opportunities, as well as supporting the team with sales activities such as proposal writing and assisting with client presentation
- Developing internal networks and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues across KPMG, but in particular in the wider IT Advisory areas and the Audit Practice
- Coaching and developing team members on engagements. Contributing to practice management, e.g. training, knowledge management.
The Individual

Successful candidates will display a combination of the following:

- Proven experience of successfully delivering IT assurance services (including external/internal audit) to medium to large clients
- Including experience in: auditing and advising clients that operate major ERP systems (eg SAP and Oracle); performing project assurance roles in major IT programmes; reviewing IT aspects of mergers and acquisition activity
- Delivering ISAE 3000 / 3402 and other IT attestation services
- Delivering data analytics services.

Experience & Background

Experience in business analysis and understanding of core business processes within the Public Sector and / or the Infrastructure Sector (i.e. Transport, Business Services, Property & Construction).

- Ideally possess a recognised accounting / auditing (eg CISA) qualification or Degree/masters qualification in IT/business.
- Experience in an IT risk and control / audit environment.
- A good understanding of IT data centre operations and a variety of technology platforms.
- A good understanding of risk and issues that would be encountered by our clients during major IT projects.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to present on specific subjects to a group of people (internal staff or clients/potential clients).

Role and Responsibilities

Experience Required
A wide range of contentious and non-contentious experience is required. In addition to experience of handling the usual day-to-day employment law queries like discipline and grievances, holiday pay, absence management and restrictive covenants, the applicant will be skilled in drafting employment-related contracts, policies and procedures. Experience of advising alongside other professionals (such as tax or immigration advisers), and project managing the employment elements of cross-border transactions, would be valuable. Ideally, the successful applicant will have advised on the employment law aspects of:

- Salary sacrifice implementation
- Employment status reviews
- Intra group transfers of employees including international assignments
- Global/offshore employment companies
- Supply of staff by employment businesses and agencies
The successful applicant will be confident in managing litigation in the Employment Tribunal and will have experience of supervising junior lawyers, trainees or paralegals in Tribunal preparation.

This is an important role in a growing team with responsibility for helping to accelerate our National Markets focus. The work is mainly non-contentious but there will be an element (probably no more than 30%) of contentious work as well. Working closely with a Senior Manager, the successful applicant will be comfortable delegating to, and supervising, more junior team members as well as managing his or her own workload and will be able to spot opportunities and win work through speaking convincingly to non-lawyer colleagues and senior client contacts about key developments in employment law .

Education and Qualifications
It is expected that the successful applicant will have between 4 and 7 years PQE mainly at a reputable City practice (but applicants with other suitable experience will also be considered). The objective of KPMG's Financial Services IT Advisory practice is to be the leading independent advisor on business systems and technology. We aim to provide clients with confidence that their business change programmes will deliver and that the underpinning IT change is managed and delivered effectively. Our professionals provide a range of advisory and assurance services directly to our client base and as a core element of multidisciplinary KPMG teams. Our people and our skills define IT Advisory.
Our Regional IT Advisory team consists of staff, ranging from first year trainees through to Partners. The people within the team are a mixture of experienced IT professionals, business analysts, auditors, advisors, accountants and project managers. We are also supported by a dedicated team of administrators and secretaries.
Clients include the whole range of financial services organisations including existing retail banks and new entrants, building societies, insurance companies (both life and non-life) and private equity houses. We also work with third party outsourcing companies offering business, IT and administration services to the financial services sector.
We help our clients to shape, manage and deliver strategies and portfolios, perform reviews, due diligence and supplier selection activities to assist in sourcing decisions and provide assurance over programmes and projects.

The Individual

The role principally involves working with our clients to define and create strategies, manage, deliver and/or assure programmes and projects alongside building and strengthening client relationships to develop new opportunities. Successful candidates will display a combination of the following:

Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent in a business or IT related subject.
An understanding and demonstrate experience of core business processes within financial services.
Technical knowledge, understanding and experience in specialist areas such as payments environments and processing, IT architecture, loyalty systems and infrastructure (preferably in the Banking industry), programme/project lifecycle management and third party sourcing.
A basic to good understanding of IT related technical issues (e.g. Compatibility, Security).
Confident communicator at all levels with strong reporting and presentation skills.
