About the programme

Our Investment Advisory team provides a range of investment services to large-scale organisations and pension funds. We advise on strategic asset allocation, risk management, fund manager selection and implementation. This programme is your chance to gain a strong foundation in financial analysis and to build excellent consultancy skills. You will be expected to take responsibility early in managing projects and delivering advice to clients.

Key Skills Required

- Strong analytical skills
- The ability to take on a high level of responsibility at an early stage
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work effectively in a team

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Constructing investment advice to our clients
- Undertaking investment manager research
- Undertaking specialist investment research
- Attending client meetings with other members of the team
- Another key aspect of the role is to work in multi-disciplinary teams including tax professionals, chartered accountants, corporate financiers and governance consultants.

Qualifications you'll work for

You will study towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Your study will be undertaken alongside your work within the office by taking a study day once a week for the relevant periods leading up to the exam sittings which are held twice a year. You will be provided with study support and guidance through the exams. If studying for the CFA qualification, you will also be expected to complete the Investment Management Certificate (IMC). 
Both the actuarial and the CFA route will allow you to become authorised to deliver investment advice to your clients.

Our Requirements

As a general rule, you'll be expected to meet the following requirements:

- Minimum grade B GCSE* Maths
- Minimum grade B GCSE* English Language
- Minimum of 320 UCAS Tariff points (or 26 UCAS points)
- Minimum 2:1 degree in any discipline.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role are wide ranging and varied - tailored to your personal ambitions and expertise. The key work streams within the department include:
- Ongoing corporate and trustee advisory relationships
- Corporate strategy projects
- Supporting the audit teams in understanding the actuarial aspects of financial statements
Irrespective of the area you are working on you will be expected to:
- Offer support in delivering projects in the required timescales
- Where appropriate, take responsibility for managing day-to-day workflows on projects
- Analyse information to produce or review high level numbers that will form part of a report
- Draft reports and other correspondence setting out findings and advice
- Attend client meetings with managers and senior managers
- Play a part in developing new ideas and advice
- Liaise with your peers around KPMG

Experience and Background

We are looking for graduates with excellent communication and analytical skills, who want to build up a broad spectrum of expertise. But what really distinguishes our people is:
